Collins - Grid Grip
Poly Coated gridded freezer paper used to create
re-usable iron-on templates.
Use for piecing or appliqué.
Stabilise fabric pieces while sewing.
Re-use the templates up to 50 times.
How to use:
Cut out templates with paper scissors.
Place the templates onto the wrong side of fabric with the poly coated
(shiny)side of the paper down.
Align the built-in grainlines of the templates with the straight of
grain
and crosswise grain of the fabric.
Press templates onto the wrong side of fabric,using a dry iron (no
steam)on
medium hot setting.
Add ¼" seam allowance along all edges of the templates
by drawing a
line ¼" from edge of template using a clear ruler and
pencil.
Cut out pieces with scissors or rotary cutter, add ¼" seam
allowance
while cutting.
Align right side of fabric pieces together.
Machine piecing: remove template on bottom piece
of fabric, stitch along
edge of top template for accurate stitching guide.
Hand piecing- use pencil to draw around template edges, peel off
templates
and stitch fabric on pencil line.
TIPS:
GridGrip paper can be placed over template patterns in books and
magazines
to trace.
Duplicate pieces of fabric can be cut at one time using the same
template.
Keep templates for re-use.
Appliqué:
Trace template patterns onto the plain GridGrip paper. Add seam
allowance to all sides of template.
For standard appliqué, press seam allowance over edge of
paper and
applique
to foundation.
After appliqué is sewn to foundation, slit the backside of
the
foundation
fabric only and remove the GridGrip template.
For needle turn appliqué, press templates onto the right
side of the
fabric.
